Dinner? Check. Movie? Been there. Dinner AND a movie? Done that.
Netflix & Chill? Ummm …
Does this list mirror your last few dates?
C’mon guys … not that anything is wrong with dinner and a movie, but after you’ve done these a few zillion times, don’t you wish there were other activities you and bae could enjoy together?
Now I might be projecting here, but I’m willing to bet that she would love to be surprised with a different activity for your next date.
Score some extra points with these date ideas … make them your own. Shhh … if you don’t tell, neither will we ;)
Tip: Download Groupon and head for the “Things to Do” to score some sweet deals on some of the activities mentioned below, plus many others. The “Events” tab on Facebook also suggests upcoming activities in your area that you might enjoy.
1. Have dinner on a yacht or take a sunset cruise.
… or another similarly cool concept. It’s still dinner, but the overall experience is different. If your town has a lake or beach nearby, check to see if any of there are any businesses that offer chartered sailing services. Picture it … just you and bae (and the captain, of course) sailing off into the sunset …
2. Sign up for a make-and-dine cooking class
Is a passion for gourmet food something the two of you have in common? Celebrate your inner foodie with a cooking lesson.
Make delicious memories as you learn to make sushi or fresh pasta or some other gastronomic masterpiece together. Check Groupon or a local culinary institute for options in your area.
3. Take another fun class (painting! golf!).
Not interested in cooking? That’s fine. Think about your mutual interests and take a class on that subject together. Get creative!
4. Prepare a picnic … or have lunch at a scenic spot.
For this article, I polled a few friends about the best date they had ever been on or planned. One friend shared how he took his girlfriend on a long drive to a scenic spot and surprised her with lunch awaiting them on their arrival. Don’t tell him I said so, but that sounds pretty dreamy to me.
Here’s how to do it:
- Think about a beautiful location in your city or town.
- Use Google or ask a friend if you need help.
- Next, call a nearby restaurant, caterer or picnic planner (again, check Google or Yelp!) and arrange to have a carryout lunch prepared for two (or pack and carry your own picnic basket).
4. Go to the theater.
No, not the movie theater! Plan a date to a live theater performance. Check your local listings for upcoming college, high school, or community theater productions.
5. Attend a comedy show or concert.
… and speaking of the theater, check your town or city’s popular event venues for schedules of activities. You’re bound to stumble upon an event that both you and your date would both be interested in.
What could be more fulfilling than spending time together helping others in need? You could join Habitat for Humanity one weekend to help build a home for a family in need or participate in a beach clean up or another cause that’s close to both of your hearts.
7. Take a sip and paint class.
These have become pretty popular in recent times for good reason. They’re fun. And trust me when I say that artistic talent is not a requirement for producing your very own masterpiece.
Don’t ask me how but somehow the strokes just all come together. Still, you probably won’t earn much if you try to auction your piece but it’s a great way to spend an afternoon or evening with your significant other.
8. Test drive an exotic car.
What’s your dream sports car? A Lamborghini? Maybe a Maserati or Maybach? This is a fun date idea if you and bae are adrenaline junkies and love cars. Live out the fantasy with a test drive. We foresee tons of Insta-worthy pics with this date.
I’ve definitely seen this available on Groupon. Check it out, or call a car showroom near you to see what’s available.
9. Go to the arcade.
Are you two competitive? Throw it down in the arcade, old school style. Milkshakes and burgers afterwards are a must!
10. Get active outdoors.
Are you both fitness enthusiasts? Plenty of options here … hiking, swimming, fishing and watersports … Make sure you check in with your partner to see what she would enjoy most.
11. Plan a tourist day.
See your town or city through new eyes by exploring it the way a tourist would.
12. See the sunrise or sunset.
Where is the best place to see the sun rise or set in your area? Find it. Then check the weather app on your phone for times and make it happen. A blanket, sweater and some snacks may be necessary.
Do you have any other ideas to share? Drop them in the comments!
Happy dating and date planning!
